Barry Vitou is an English qualified solicitor in the firm’s corporate department who has more than 15 years of experience and concentrates his practice on business and finance law.

Barry represents clients setting up in the UK and he advises on fundraising activity from early-stage angel investment rounds and venture capital financings through large private placings, IPO’s and rights issues. He has represented companies listing on the London Stock Exchange full list and its Alternative Investment Market (AIM), including dual listings involving the NYSE and NASDAQ.

He represents clients in M&A, joint venture, and strategic alliance transactions in deals which vary in size from small- and medium-sized transactions involving privately owned businesses to large transactions running into billions of dollars for public companies.

Barry advises lenders and borrowers in connection with debt financing and he has a regulatory practice advising clients in connection with the financial services regulatory regime, including compliance with money laundering regulations. He is experienced in dealing with regulators in the UK and various offshore jurisdictions, such as BVI and Bermuda.

Most of Barry’s clients operate internationally and he regularly works with colleagues throughout the Winston & Strawn network, as well as other co-counsel around the world. He is very experienced in dealing with the issues facing technology companies through his representation of various media/clean-tech businesses.
